Wall Applique  

Wall appliqué is the answer to a home that lacks a personal touch. Many of us go about our daily lives working, doing chores and generally getting things done. What we forget is that the home should be a safe and warm place away from the drudgery of daily life and so we put little time and attention into our surroundings. Having a decorative and personal element in the home can really change that for you. It means that you have touches of yourself in your personal space and the benefits of that shouldn’t be underestimated.

 We all need to express ourselves in different ways. Sometimes there might be a picture of art work hanging on the walls. This gives a sense of familiarity, peace and a part of yourself in the home but you can extend those feelings by adding appliqué. The bedroom is a wonderful place for this. Many people share their rooms with significant others; the partners that add something special to their lives and romantic phrases are a beautiful thing to have on the wall. They will remind you of the love that you share and not to go to bed angry (something my grandmother always said and something that definitely rings true for all of us).

 The simple way to inject romance and caring into the bedroom is an elegant message on the wall above the bed. It could say anything but sometimes it is difficult to put your own feelings into words. Some of the better ones I have seen are phrases like “always kiss me goodnight”. It is a reminder to cherish the person you love but at the same time it creates that ambience in the room that will make you feel that way as well. Another is “holding you, I hold everything”. You have to admit, it certainly tugs on the heartstrings and gives a sense of appreciation.

 Of course not everyone is a romantic though. That doesn’t mean you need to endure a cold space in your home. There are lots of different messages that you can put on your wall to give yourself that warm feeling. Another good place is in the kitchen. This is essentially the heart of the home and will be the perfect setting for some thoughtfulness.  Something simple like “the fondest memories are made when gathering around the table” can really endear you to that difficult teenager or to your partner when you haven’t taken the time to think about the people you have in your life. 

Wall appliqué also creates an inviting feel to others that visit your home. They know that you live in a welcoming, warm environment and it will help them to feel at ease and to enjoy themselves should you decide to entertain guests. You can be as creative as you like and that creativity will spread throughout your home and affect the attitude of those in it.
